Planning Commission Vacancy

The Broadway Planning Commission has one upcoming vacancy on its five-member Commission. The purpose of the Commission is to assist the Town Council in anticipating and guiding future development and change by preparing plans, ordinances, capital improvement programs, studies, reports, and other documents for consideration by the Town Council. A large, current project for the Commission is the Comprehensive Plan. This official public document establishes an overall plan and recommended actions relevant to the current and future needs of Broadway. The appointment will be for one four-year term. Regular meetings of the Commission are held on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Special meetings, including joint public hearings, are called as needed. Interested Town citizens must submit a letter of interest to the Town by Friday, December 15, 2023, at 12:00 noon. In the letter, please share why you’re interested in serving on the Commission, relevant qualifications, and your understanding of the responsibilities of Commission members. You can email the letter to info@broadwayva.gov or deliver to the Town Office Monday through Friday during the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with a lunch closure from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. daily.

Community Input Survey

The Town of Broadway is updating its Comprehensive Plan to guide town planning for the next 20 years. The Comprehensive Plan provides an overview of the Town’s present and future needs and offers direction for allocating community resources for meeting those needs. The survey aids the planning process by identifying the Town’s current strengths and weaknesses, how it could be improved, and what features and amenities should be included in the Comprehensive Plan.

The purpose of the Planning Commission is to assist the Town Council in anticipating and guiding future development and change by preparing plans, ordinances, capital improvement programs, studies, reports, and other documents for consideration by the Town Council. 

In the fall of 2023 the Planning Commission, with the assistance of the Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission, will update the Comprehensive Plan. This process will take approximately a year. Stay tuned for more information and engagement opportunities.

The Planning Commission meets as scheduled, typically the second Monday of the month, at 7:00 p.m. at Town Hall. Below is the remaining 2023 meeting date.
